UK’s biggest indoor festival cancelled after death of festival-goer

Following a serious fire at the recent BoomTown Fair and the death of a festivalgoer, the music and arts festival has cancelled its December Winter Gathering event.

“UK’s biggest indoor festival”, which is attended by more than 50,000 people, has been cancelled after organisers decided it would be inappropriate to go ahead due to a series of serious incidents at its most recent event, the BoomTown Fair.

Tickets for its debut Winter Gathering will not go on sale as declared by Boom Town Fair following some of the tragic incidents like the death of a festivalgoer, and a car park fire that destroyed 82 vehicles, leading to the evacuation of a section of the campsite.

An 18-year-old woman was found dead in her tent on Monday. Olivia Christopher, from Chesham in Buckinghamshire, is the fourth person to have died at BoomTown in the seven years since the festival started.

So, organisers of the Winter Gathering on their social media page announced that they feel it would not be appropriate at this time to go ahead with the event as previously planned.

Although the incident was going good, some unfortunate incidents took place for which the organisers feel that they should take some time to take stock of. As a very close team with so much love for the community that is created at BoomTown, it came as a blow the news of festival attendee who tragically passed away.

The organisers are also currently going through the process to follow up individually with all those who have been affected by the fire.

The Winter Gathering was due to take place at the Royal Bath and West showground, near Shepton Mallet, on 10 December, with six huge party arenas. The event has been planned for more than four years.
