MIAMI – Mexican based carrier Volaris will launch service at Miami International Airport on February 1, 2017, with four weekly flights to Guadalajara and daily flights to Mexico City.
Guadalajara will become MIA’s sixth route within Mexico, the airport’s second-busiest international market, with 1.4 million total passengers in 2015. All flights will utilise Airbus A320 aircraft.
Volaris offers more than 200 daily flights on routes connecting cities in Mexico and the United States.
“We are honored that Volaris has chosen to expand its South Florida operations to MIA, and we look forward to welcoming their new service to Guadalajara,” said Emilio T. González, director, Miami-Dade Aviation.
“Mexico continues to be a growing international market for us, and we are proud to offer local residents another option to these two popular destinations.”
Volaris is the third airline to schedule its launch into the Miami market in 2017.
In April, low-cost transatlantic airline WOW air will launch thrice-weekly service to Reykjavík, Iceland, and Italian airline Meridiana will begin two weekly flights to Milan. The three new airlines in 2017, along with three others starting service this October and November, will add to MIA’s current total of 107 carriers – the most at any US airport. MIA is also home to seven low-cost carriers.
