The number of tourists from Philippines in Taiwan had reached to more than 170,000 in 2016 that marks a 24% annual increase that resulted from the relaxed visa procedures and also the ‘New South Bound policy’.
As per the statistics presented by Taiwan’s Tourism Bureau portrayed the total visitors from Philippines in the year 2016 had risen by 23.89% to reach about 172,475.
Out of the total number of visitors, 48,190 visitors had visited Taiwan for tourism that would represent a spike of about 60% as compared to the precious year, as per the bureau statistics. Some other purposes of last year’s visit include the business trips that accounted for 6,551 travellers, while 4,843 people had to visit Taiwan for their relatives who have been residing in the region.
On the other hand, about 3,238 people had come here for the purpose of attending meetings. Medical treatment, exhibitions, academic studies were a few of the other factors that motivated tourist arrivals in this region.
The representative office of Taiwan in the Philippines had credited the country’s policies to ease the visa procedures for the citizens from the Southeast Asian nation. In addition, the Tourism Bureau of Taiwan had also promoted Taiwan at the several travel fairs conducted in the Philippines.
During September 2016, Taiwan had waved the visa regulations on the entry of Philippine visitors that hold resident permits.
They would al expire within 10 years issued from the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, South Korea, Schengen Area, Canada and the U.S.
Tourists can apply through an online process for multiple-entry permits that would be valid for a period of three months and allow them to reside in Taiwan for about 30 days.
In the next month, Philippines was included in the e-visa program of Taiwan.
The tourism office in Taiwan has mentioned that a larger number of Philippine tourists are expected to visit Taiwan in the year 2017.
The bureau statistics have asserted that the Taiwanese tourists to the Philippines have also risen by 29% as compared to the previous year and has reached a fresh high of 231,801 in 2016.
