Berlin airport summer flight plan 2017: Expansion of long-haul routes

The 2017 summer flight plan from Berlin offers numerous new and attractive destinations. In total, 84 airlines connect Berlin and Brandenburg with 178 destinations in 57 countries. The summer flight plan takes effect from 26 March 2017.

With San Francisco, Los Angeles and Toronto three new long-haul routes are now being offered on the American continent. In addition, our range of destinations in Eastern Europe and Russia, as well as the flight plan from Schonefeld, has never been so broad.”
Berlin-Tegel: new destinations, higher frequency, better connections
The summer flight plan offers excellent worldwide connections from Tegel, with a total of 20 intercontinental routes, of which 13 are long-haul, 89 European destinations and nine domestic, as well as increased frequencies. Here are the new long-haul routes from Berlin-Tegel in summary:
airberlin significantly expands its range of long-haul routes to the USA. From 13 April 2017, the airline starts flying twice a day from Berlin-Tegel to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York. Miami will be included for the first time in summer. In addition, the route will be expanded to include five flights a week from mid-April and then daily, except Mondays and Wednesdays. With Los Angeles and San Francisco the Berlin flight plan has two new nonstop destinations on the US West Coast. The red and white airplanes begin flying four times a week to San Francisco from 1 May 2017 (every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday). airberlin will also fly to Los Angeles three times a week from 2 May 2017, every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Delta Air Lines returns to Berlin. The airline begins a daily nonstop service from Berlin to New York (JFK) on 26 May 2017. The flights are operated together with the joint venture partners Air France-KLM and Alitalia. Delta is initially operating the route seasonally until 5 September.
On 4 June, Toronto in Canada will be added to the list of nonstop destinations across the Atlantic. Air Canada rouge will fly from the city on the shores of Lake Ontario four times a week to Berlin. From 8 October, flights to Canada’s largest city will depart every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
Summary of new European destinations and increase in frequency to destinations in Asia
airberlin improves connections from France, Israel, Poland and Italy to Berlin. From 26 March 2017, flights from the Polish cities of Warsaw and Krakow depart four times a day. The Gdansk (Danzig)-Tegel route restarts on 4 May and is served by daily flights. Also from 26 March, airberlin is increasing the frequency of flights to Tel Aviv by one flight per day. Flights to the Mediterranean city will then leave twice a day. In addition, the airline is also changing its Paris airport and will fly four times a day to and from Charles-de-Gaulle. The number of daily flights to Rome is being increased from two to three. airberlin flights to Milan-Linate Airport will also be increased from two to four a day.
Faro and Mykonos are new additions to Eurowings’ Berlin flight plan. From 9 April, flight will depart every Sunday to Faro in the south of Portugal. From 5 May, the airline will begin flying from Berlin to Mykonos, the Island of the Wind. The Greek island in the Aegean is flown every Friday.
Finnair starts operating an additional third flight from Berlin-Tegel direct to Helsinki starting on 10 April. The additional flight departs each midday, expanding the existing daily schedule to cover the entire day.
From 9 May 2017, the Russian airline S7 Airlines will connect Berlin-Tegel to St. Petersburg in Russia. Flights leave for the historical city on the Neva every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturdays.
On 17 May, the Estonian airline Nordica is restarting its route from Berlin to Tallinn. Flights depart for the Estonian capital twice a week from Tegel. Flight days are Wednesday and Saturday.
From 1 June, Blue Air starts flying from Berlin to Ia?i in Romania. The route is served three times a week, every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
The Russian airline UTair is to start flying between Berlin-Tegel and Moscow-Vnukovo. The new route to Russia is available in the airline’s flight plan once a day from 1 June 2017.
The Moldovan airline Fly One is planning a route to Chi?inau from June. Flights to the capital of the Republic of Moldova will depart three times a week every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Royal Jordanian is increasing the frequency of its Berlin-Amman route successively from four to six flight days. On 12 June, a fifth flight will depart Sundays and, on 23 June, a sixth will leave every Friday. The route is served in high summer almost daily except Wednesdays.
Discover Europe from Berlin-Schonefeld
In total 31 airlines offer a large selection of destinations and routes from Berlin-Schonefeld. The summer flight plan covers nine intercontinental destinations, as well as 105 European and two German destinations.
Ryanair is adding a new destination to the Berlin flight plan. From 26 March, the airline will start flying between Berlin and Verona in Italy. The budget airline’s flights depart every Wednesday and Sunday for the City of Love.
Wizz Air is expanding its flight plan from Berlin-Schonefeld with two additional destinations in Eastern Europe. From 26 March, Chiinau, the capital of the Republic of Moldova, will be served twice a week in the flight plan of the Hungarian airline. From 18 June, the airline will also fly every Wednesday and Sunday to Lwiw (Lemberg) in West Ukraine.
From 9 April, the Dutch airline Transavia is redirecting its direct service from Nantes in France to Schonefeld instead of Tegel. The airport of the former capital of Brittany will be flown twice a week, every Thursday and Sunday. This means the airline will operate all three routes (Munich, Nantes, Rotterdam) from Berlin-Schonefeld.
The Berlin airline Germania begins a new sun destination from May 2017: every Saturday, flights leave for the Greek island of Kos. In addition, the airline is also increasing the frequency of its Schonefeld-Teheran route and will fly three times a week from 1 April 2017, Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays to the Iranian capital.
In May, the newly founded German airline Azurair is planning to start flights to and from Berlin-Schonefeld. Flights to some of the most loved holiday destinations Antalya (Turkey), Mallorca, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura (Spain) and Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) will feature in the airline’s flight plan.
easyJet continues to expand its flights from Berlin-Schonefeld. From 26 June 2017, the low-cost airline begins flights twice a week, every Monday and Thursday, to Bastia in Corsica. Another new addition from 27 June is the holiday resort of Pula in Croatia. The route will be operated three times a week. Flight days are Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. From 28 June easyJet also starts flying to Varna, Bulgaria’s beach resort. The route to the port city on the Black Sea will be operated twice a week, every Wednesday and Saturday.
