Ει βούλει καλώς ακούειν, μάθε καλώς λέγειν, μαθών δε καλώς λέγειν, πειρώ καλώς πράττειν, και ούτω καρπώση το καλώς ακούειν. (Επίκτητος)

A four-page article highlighting Northern Ireland appeared in the London Evening Standard earlier this week, reaching about 1.5 million readers – or potential GB holidaymakers for Northern Ireland.

The article marked the start of a four-week partnership between Tourism Ireland and the Evening Standard to highlight Northern Ireland in GB. It’s part of Tourism Ireland’s programme of activity to capitalise on the recent Lonely Planet ‘Best in Travel 2018’ accolade for Belfast and the Causeway Coast.

Northern Ireland is described as “a destination you’ll fall in love with” and the article includes striking images of the Giant’s Causeway, Titanic Belfast and the CS Lewis sculpture. The feature also highlights our wonderful home-grown food and drink, our literary heritage including Seamus Heaney and CS Lewis, as well as the filming locations used in Game of Thrones.

We are delighted to partner with the Evening Standard to showcase Northern Ireland in London”, Julie Wakley, Tourism Ireland’s Head of Great Britain, said. “It’s a really great way to highlight Northern Ireland as a ‘must visit’ destination and to spread the word about what makes a holiday in Northern Ireland unique and truly memorable.

The campaign also includes three upcoming articles in the ‘London Life’ food section of the newspaper, showcasing some of our award-winning food and drink producers and what a great ‘foodie’ destination Northern Ireland is. Articles about Northern Ireland will also feature on the Evening Standard website; and there’s also an opportunity for readers to enter a competition to win a weekend break for two in Northern Ireland.
